South east London, which includes Bromley, Bexley, Greenwich, Lewisham and Southwark, saw an overall fall in reported crime at the end of January when compared to December.
A total of 10,617 offences were logged in January, down 1.8 per cent from the 10,961 recorded in December, continuing a slight downward trend.
Southwark recorded the highest number of offences, with 3,070 crimes reported during the month.
Theft was the most common offence in the borough with 1,230 incidents, followed by violence against the person with 713 reports.
There were also 184 burglaries, 169 arson and criminal damage offences, 168 vehicle offences, 161 robberies and 132 public order offences.
Together, theft and violent crime accounted for more than half of all offences recorded in the borough.
Lewisham had the second-highest crime total, with 2,355 offences in January, representing a small 0.6 per cent increase from the previous month.
Violence against the person and theft were again the most frequently recorded crimes, with 785 and 575 reports respectively.
This was followed by 190 cases of arson and criminal damage and 170 vehicle offences.
The figures show a similar pattern to Southwark, with personal and property-related crimes making up the majority of reports.
Greenwich ranked third, with 2,195 offences reported during the month, up 0.9 per cent compared to December.
The borough recorded 731 incidents of violence against the person and 467 theft offences, alongside 258 vehicle crimes.
There were also 169 public order offences, 159 arson and criminal damage offences and 121 drug offences.
Vehicle-related crime formed a noticeably larger proportion of offences here than in neighbouring boroughs.
Bromley was next in the rankings, with 1,747 offences reported in January.
Despite being London’s largest borough by area, it recorded considerably fewer offences than inner-London neighbours.
This included 521 cases of violence against the person, 329 thefts and 276 vehicle offences.
Police also recorded 160 arson and criminal damage offences, 113 burglaries and 107 public order offences.
Bexley recorded the lowest number of reported offences in south east London, with 1,250 crimes.
Police dealt with 400 reports of violence against the person, 216 thefts, 150 vehicle offences and 136 arson and criminal damage offences.
Overall, crime levels in Bexley remained significantly lower than the sub-regional average.
