Andy Grace Edwards, a writer and mental health and disability adviser from Glasgow, and David Ross Linklater, a poet who studied at the University of Glasgow, are among nine recipients of the 2026 New Writers Award.
The annual scheme, run by the Scottish Book Trust, offers emerging writers a £2500 cash prize, mentorship from experienced authors and industry professionals, a week-long retreat and opportunities to connect with key figures in publishing.
They have also worked with theatre companies Lung Ha and Birds of Paradise and currently serve as a script reader for the National Theatre of Scotland.
Reflecting on their award win, Grace said: “I’m still in shock.
“I’m thrilled at the prospect of honing my craft, meeting the other awardees and, fingers crossed, writing a first draft.
“Thank you to Scottish Book Trust for the opportunity.
“I can’t wait to get started.”
