Narian Govender, 52, from Bexhill, scooped a Mercedes AMG A45-S Plus valued at £61,000 and £50,000 in cash through BOTB’s weekly Dream Car Competition.
The surprise was revealed at his home by BOTB presenter Christian Williams, with Mr Govender’s family, including his wife and two sons, present.
Mr Govender said: “It’s just one of those things you don’t think you’re going to win.
“You enter and leave it in fate’s hands.
“It goes to show if you don’t try, you don’t win, and nothing can prepare you for when it happens and what you experience.”
The Mercedes AMG A45-S Plus has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine delivering 415bhp and a top speed of 168mph.
Mr Govender described the win as a return to a brand he had long admired.
He said: “I previously had a Mercedes but had to sell it to help with the finances when I bought my house.
“This car has the whole package, and I’m really looking forward to having a Mercedes back on my drive.”
The surprise continued when BOTB presenter Katie Knight opened the boot to reveal the £50,000 cash prize stored inside.
Turning to his family, Mr Govender said: “I think we’re going on a holiday this year.”
He later shared plans to travel to the Far East, a long-held dream of his wife.
He said: “We haven’t been on holiday as a family for some time, so the first thing we want to do is go somewhere nice and warm.”
The cash will also be put to use for more practical needs.
He said: “I’ve been planning on changing my van.
“I’ve had it for five years and never had enough money for the deposit, and now I can.”
Ms Knight described Mr Govender’s reaction as both emotional and memorable.
She said: “Narian’s reaction was absolutely brilliant.
“He was completely stunned, and seeing him surrounded by his wife and two boys made it even more special.
“You could almost see the plans forming in his head straight away, including family time, travel, and finally being able to do things that had felt out of reach.”
