A car has crashed into the A&E building at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath around 7am this morning.
The Princess Royal is run by the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
The hospital’s A&E remained fully open and operational, although patients have been asked to access A&E via the hospital’s main entrance, with signage in place to direct them.
Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with injuries.

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust has now issued a statement on this morning’s incident.
Gerthy Albano, Hospital Director of Nursing at Princess Royal Hospital, said:
“Earlier today there was a minor accident at Princess Royal Hospital in which a vehicle came into contact with the A&E entrance.
“One patient sustained minor injuries, and only minor damage was caused to the door frame.
“A&E at Princess Royal Hospital remains fully open and operational.
“Ambulance access is completely unaffected, but while repair works to the door take place, patients attending A&E on foot will need to use the hospital’s main entrance.
“Given the potential for any slight additional inconvenience, we would once again reiterate that anyone considering going to A&E with minor health concerns should consider whether contacting their pharmacy, local GP practice, or NHS 111 service, to get the help they need.”

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 7.06am this morning to reports of a vehicle colliding with the entrance of the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
“Joint fire control mobilised two fire engines to the scene.
“Upon arrival, crews released one person from the vehicle who was left in the care of paramedics.
“Crews left the scene at 8.04am.”
