A man in his 30s has been arrested after damage was caused to 14 town centre businesses.
Police were called after reports of several windows being smashed in Ramsgate on Saturday (January 31).
Windows were broken in High Street, York Street, Queen Street and King Street, with police arriving at 6am.
Dale Percy, of no fixed address, was arrested and the 39-year-old was later charged with causing criminal damage to 14 buildings, theft of a ladder brace, and attempted damage to a vehicle.
He was due to appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court today.
Meanwhile, Ramsgate Town Council urged shoppers to show support to the business impacted.
Its statement, posted on social media, said: “Several of our local businesses woke up this morning to find their windows smashed following an overnight incident.
“A suspect has been arrested, and we want to reassure residents that the town centre is safe and open. There is no ongoing risk to the public.
“Our thoughts are with the business owners affected, many of whom are independently run and incidents like this are upsetting, costly and disruptive, and your support means more than ever.
“If you’re out and about today, please consider popping into local shops, cafés and venues and showing them some love.
“Ramsgate is a strong, supportive community, and moments like this remind us how important it is to look out for one another.”
