Sussex Police said the man’s body was found by a member of the public on the beach adjacent to Eversfield Place in St Leonards at 7.30am on Friday, January 30.
He has been identified as a 48-year-old local man and police are contacting his next of kin.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The death is unexplained but not believed to be suspicious.
“Anyone who has any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting serial 179 of 30/1.”
