Mum of two Lauren Gourlay, 36, donated her hair to The Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to medical conditions and cancer treatments.
Gourlay said that her hair has “always made her feel good” and was a bit of a “security blanket”.

However, she recently saw that her hairdresser had cut other people’s hair for the Trust, and decided it was time to give back.
Gourlay said: “I have this amazing hair and I’m so fortunate to have good genes but I know it will grow back.
“Since having children I’ve become so much more aware of things that can happen and impact not just on children but on parents.
“And by doing this and making kids feel good, it’s a wonderful thing to do.”
Gourlay, who goes by Laurens Cravings on social media, told her 188,000 followers that she would be taking the plunge.

She also shared a JustGiving page to pay for the cost to make the the wig – which has raised more than £1,500.
On the day of the chop, 16 inches of Gourlay’s hair was cut off at Hendry James Hair salon in Finnieston.
Gourlay said: “I didn’t expect to be so emotional. It was just a huge release – that hair has been my identity and part of who I am for decades.
“But it was time for a change and I wanted something significant and the donation to charity made it a worthwhile cause and justified the decision for me.”
