The research, carried out by Cash House Buyers at Sell House Fast, analysed a range of factors linked to peace and tranquillity to find England’s most peaceful places to live.
These included noise complaints, light pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, the number of empty homes and the presence of sewage works, which were combined into an overall “sensory disturbance” score.
Bromley placed fifth overall in England, behind South Gloucestershire, making it the most peaceful borough in London.
The borough recorded just four noise complaints per 1,000 people and had 2.7 per cent of its land classified as having the lowest level of light pollution.
Bromley was also recorded to have 11.1 empty homes per 1,000 people, with no sewage works located within the borough.
Greenhouse gas emissions in Bromley stood at 6 kt CO₂e per square kilometre, contributing to an overall sensory disturbance score of 2.73.
Using publicly available data, researchers assessed how often residents are exposed to noise and light disruption, environmental emissions and infrastructure that could impact everyday wellbeing.

Each area was then given a score out of 10, with lower scores indicating a more peaceful environment.
At the top of the list was Solihull, which ranked as the calmest place to live in England with a score of 2.28 out of 10, followed by Wiltshire in second place and Peterborough in third.
Bromley’s latest ranking follows similar recognition in 2025, when the borough was also named among the most peaceful places to live in England.
The borough was praised for its low noise levels, darker night skies compared to much of the capital, and its balance between suburban living and access to green space.
Bordering London and Kent, Bromley is the capital’s largest borough by area and is home to several village-like communities, including Downe and Bickley.

With parts of the borough bordering the Kent Downs National Landscape, residents benefit from a mix of countryside, historic sites and quieter neighbourhoods, while still having travel links into London via National Rail and Superloop services.
