The vehicle was stuck in a flooded ford off Station Road, Eynesford after it’s believed water entered the engine and caused it to fail this morning (January 23) at around 4.30am.
Two Kent Fire and Rescue Service engines attended the scene.
Crews wearing dry suits helped the people from the roof of the car and took them onto dryland.
They were both checked over as a precaution by South East Coast Ambulance paramedics.
The incident has sparked a reminder from Kent Fire and Rescue Service to the public not to drive through flooded roads or deep water.
On Wednesday (January 21) around 12.20pm, a similar report in the same location (Station Lane) saw two fire engines and the water safety unit attend the scene, as well as other emergency services, where crews helped to push a vehicle to safety.
Following the incident, firefighters reminded people not to drive or walk through flood water, which can “often be deeper than it looks and there may be hazards hidden underneath the surface”.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service has issued the following advice:
During periods of heavy rain and flooding, people can help to reduce the risk of an emergency by not attempting to drive or travel through flood water – it’s often a lot deeper than it looks and there could be hidden hazards under the surface.
Also adjusting your driving to match the weather and road conditions and keeping plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front.
