Glasgow temperature could drop to -8C next week - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates

Sean Batty has forecast a second big freeze is on the way, saying the return of subzero temperatures “looks increasingly likely”.

In his latest insight for STV News, the meteorologist said low temperatures could hit Glasgow before the end of the month.

He wrote: “Some runs show sub-zero daytime temperatures and lows of around –8C in Glasgow by the end of January, while others point to much milder conditions, with highs near 8C and lows of 6C.”

Large parts of Scotland were hit with weather warnings for snow, ice, rain and wind earlier this month with the North of the country experiencing heavy snowfall.

However, Glasgow escaped the wild wintry weather.

Batty commented: “It’s been several years since we’ve experienced such a prolonged period of colder-than-average conditions, and it’s relatively rare to see two notable cold spells within the same month.”
