A second South African fast bowler has agreed to join for the start of Kent’s County Championship summer.
Glenton Stuurman is expected to be available in County Championship Division 2 from their away match at Durham from Friday, April 3, until the reverse fixture at Beckenham, beginning on Friday, May 15.
The 33-year-old is a domestic team-mate of Keith Dudgeon, who is returning to Kent this season, at Goldrush Boland – where he has taken 21 wickets so far this season in five appearances – including 6-61 against Titans in the Cricket South Africa Four-Day Series this winter.
Overall, the right-armer has 277 first-class wickets in 82 appearances at an average of 24.05, and has played Test and T20 cricket for South Africa.
Stuurman will be replaced by countryman Senuran Muthusamy, a third South African overseas player to turn out for Kent in 2026, who will complete the red-ball season with Kent, for the second half of this summer.
“I’m delighted to be joining Kent and excited for the opportunity to test myself in County Championship cricket during the English summer,” he said.
“I’m excited to play County Championship cricket for the first time in my career and determined to make an impact for Kent.
“Representing Kent carries a lot of weight, a club with a huge history in the game and a place where a lot of my fellow countrymen have made their names before.
“I’m looking forward to playing in front of Kent’s members and supporters.”
Director of cricket Simon Cook added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Glenton to Kent for the start of the season.
“He brings a wealth of experience to our attack, with more than 250 first-class wickets to his name, and it will be great for him to link up again with his Boland team-mate, Keith Dudgeon.
“Glenton is a skilful operator, who will help us start the season strongly and maintain pressure throughout the campaign along with our other quicks.”
The move is subject to regulatory approval.
Stuurman claimed figures of 0-28 from his sole T20 appearance for South Africa in a six-wicket win over Pakistan in Lahore.
The following year, he featured in Test matches against New Zealand and Bangladesh.
