The lifeless creature was found this morning at Pevensey Bay, wrapped in an orange sack used to carry onions.
Numerous items have been washing ashore along the Sussex coastline in recent weeks, after tens of shipping containers fell off cargo ships in rough seas.
This has included thousands of bags of frozen chips and sacks of onions appearing on beaches near Eastbourne in recent days.

Wealden District Council confirmed the presence of a shipping container at Pevensey Bay last week. It also said that polystyrene foam had appeared on the beach there.
The unfortunate seal was seen by local resident Brigitte Crunden, who was walking her dog near Normans Bay when she noticed it on the beach.
“It was a frightful sight”, 66-year-old Brigitte said. “It’s a very said thing to see. We’ve only got one little seal that swims around here.
“It’s quite upsetting.”

Brigitte said the beach was strewn with pollution and debris.
“There’s been a lot around here lately”, she said. “Lots of onions, onion sacks, chips, pieces of polystyrene.”
Brigitte noted there was a tragic symbolism to the seal’s death.
She said: “It sums up how much pollution is going into the sea, especially pollution that we don’t even see or know about.
“It just shows the impact the wrecked containers are having on our wildlife.
“Seeing that dead seal wrapped up in an onion sack… you couldn’t summarise it better than that.”
