Saturday’s Kent Schools Cross-Country Championships once again pitted some of the county’s best youngsters against each other, and Simon Hildrew captured all the action.

Titles in four categories were up for grabs at Central Park, with the senior honours going to the Bromley and Tonbridge districts.

Joseph Scanes (19min25sec) won the boys’ race and Holly Diprose (14.30) the girls’ event.

Maidstone and Ashford & Weald were celebrating wins at intermediate level – Freddie Gibson leading the boys home (15.57) and Sophie Richmond the girls (14.08).

Guy Bowers (10.43) won the junior boys’ category – another victory for Maidstone – and Flavia Hitchings did likewise for Tonbridge in the girls’ event (11.36).

Bromley’s Luc Jones was this year’s Year 7 boys’ champion in 8.57 and Cora Old prevailed for Tonbridge clocking 9.47.

The team results went Bomley’s way in five of the eight categories – senior boys, intermediate girls, junior girls, Year 7 boys and Year 7 girls. Tunbridge Wells (intermediate boys, junior boys) and Maidstone (senior girls) were the other winners.
