A South African 2025 ICC World Test champion has agreed to join Kent.
Left-handed batting all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy, 31, will link up with Kent from the beginning of the 2026 Vitality T20 Blast until the end of their county season.

Muthusamy made headlines in November, scoring his first Test century for South Africa against India, with 109 at Guwahati on the way to the Proteas’ 2-0 series win.
Durban-born Muthusamy has 10 first-class centuries to his name in his career, spanning 115 appearances and, in T20 cricket, has 81 career wickets at an economy of 6.62.
He was part of South Africa’s squad for their World Test Championship final at Lord’s against Australia in June, only to miss out on a starting XI spot, as they were five-wicket victors.
On signing for Kent from May 22 until the end of 2026, Muthusamy said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing County Championship and Vitality Blast cricket for the first time at a club with a big history.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about Kent from my team-mates that have played there before and I’m relishing the opportunity to make contributions with bat and ball in a Kent shirt.”

Director of cricket Simon Cook said: “We’re extremely pleased to have secured the services of a multi-format international talent for most of this coming summer.
“‘Sen’ is an extremely versatile player, able to bat across the middle and lower-order in Championship cricket. He will also be an asset for us on late-season surfaces that are usually more conducive to spin.
“In the Vitality Blast, he also provides left-handed hitting options at the back-end of an innings, as well as an economical spin option through the middle overs, as we look to be competitive in multiple formats this season.
“Overseas players contribute in many ways beyond on-field performance. Sen’s experience will be invaluable in helping our young players develop into better cricketers.
“In particular, the time he spends with Jaydn Denly – also a left-handed batter and left-arm spinner – will be crucial in his development.”

Muthusamy is currently featuring in the SA20 competition for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, alongside former Spitfires Adam Milne and Beyers Swanepoel.
Kent batsman Ben Dawkins has helped England start their under-19 World Cup campaign with two wins in Zimbabwe
Dawkins offered 33 at the top of the order in a 37-run victory over Pakistan last Friday before 11 in an eight-wicket win against the hosts two days later.
England were due to finish their run of Group B games against Scotland yesterday on Wednesday morning.
