The A259 Seaside in Eastbourne was closed while emergency services, including the air ambulance, responded to the incident.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Police received a report of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian in Seaside, Eastbourne, about 11.43am on Sunday 8 January.
“The pedestrian – a man in his 20s – was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
“Anyone with any information or footage of the incident is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 411 of 18/01.”
