A man in his 40s has died following a crash involving a car and a water tanker near Ashford. The driver was travelling south on the A2070 Ashford Road in Hamstreet in a silver Vauxhall Meriva when it was involved in a collision with a purple Volvo Tanker heading in the opposite direction.
The car then struck a barrier and the tanker jack-knifed, with a tractor unit leaving the road and entering a wooded embankment and an area next to a railway line, Kent Police said. Following the crash at around 3.15pm yesterday (January 13), patrols attended the scene near the overbridge for Poundhurst Road, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
The car driver was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin has been informed. The tanker driver was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries.
