Officers were called after a girl reported being followed and recorded en route to her school in Bexhill on December 17 at 8am.
She has received support from officers.
It was reported that a man had followed her in Turkey Road and into Gunter’s Lane and may have followed other girls also en route to school.
Officers are investigating, and have released images of a man they wish to speak with.
Detective Inspector Barry Chandler said: “We have been carrying out extensive checks across the area and are taking this report extremely seriously.
“Officers have engaged with schools, and there have been increased patrols around schools in order to provide reassurance and deterrence.
“He was wearing dark clothing with a black puffer-style jacket, black or dark blue jogging bottoms.
“Anyone who recognises the man is urged to come forward and report information to us.”
