The Air Ambulance was tasked to the scene

One person has been taken to hospital following an early morning incident in south Belfast.

It happened in the area of Cherryvale playing fields on Ravenhill Road at around 8am.

Posting on social media earlier, local Cllr. Séamas De Faoite said: “The Air Ambulance is currently at Cherryvale, following an incident nearby. Please give emergency services the space to do their work. My thoughts are with those involved.”

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed it received a 999 call at 08:17 on Monday, 12th January, following reports of an incident in the South Belfast area.

A spokesperson added: “The NIAS has dispatched four emergency ambulances, one rapid response paramedic and the charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board were also tasked to the scene.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by ambulance.”
