The body of a man has been pulled from the River Medway in Maidstone.

Police are asking for witnesses and footage following the discovery. Kent Police was called at 8.12am on Friday, January 2, 2026 to Broadway.

Officers attended alongside Kent Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics. The body was recovered from the water and has since been identified as Terry Underhill, 55, from Maidstone.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The death is being treated as non-suspicious at this stage and a report is being prepared for the coroner, however officers are appealing for further information.

The last known sighting of Mr Underhill was at approximately 9pm on Thursday, January 1, on Quarry Road in Tovil.

He was wearing a dark grey coat and navy t-shirt with light grey tracksuit bottoms and black shoes.
