Growing equipment, fans, lights and other items were seized
A property converted into a cannabis farm was busted by police in Margate. The discovery was made by Kent Police and Thanet District Council operatives in Cliff Terrace on Monday (January 5).
They were carrying out enquiries in relation to a report of fly-tipped growing equipment elsewhere in the district. Kent Police entered the building, found the electrics had been tampered with, resulting in urgent work needed to ensure the building was safe and did not pose a potential fire risk to neighbouring properties.
Once secure, neighbourhood policing teams made their way into the property and dismantled the cultivation, Kent Police said. Around 150 plants were seized as well as growing equipment, fans, lights and other items, the force added.
An investigation into the production of class B drugs remains ongoing. Inspector Richard Batten said: “Working with partners allows us to share information which on this occasion has resulted in us dismantling a criminal cultivation which had been established across a property, disrupting the work of organised crime, and was also at risk of causing safety issues for other people living nearby.
“Anyone who sees or hears anything suspicious in relation to drug dealing should contact us so appropriate action can be taken.”
