Matthew Koma and Hilary Duff have been happily married since tying the knot in December 2019. Since then, the husband and wife have expanded their family, welcoming daughters Banks, Mae and Townes. Hilary also shares her son, Luca, with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
As fans now know, Matthew is a bit of a jokester! He’s occasionally posted funny moments alongside Hilary and even involving other celebrities on social media. Though in January 2026, he may have fueled speculation about Hilary’s friendship with Ashley Tisdale when the latter published an essay via The Cut about a “toxic mom group.”

Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in the town of Seaford, Matthew took an interesting in songwriting and music ata young age.
Matthew Is a singer & musician
He makes his profession quite clear in his Instagram bio, which reads, “I sing in a band called Winnekta Bowling League.” The band has a new single called “Kombucha” on their second EP, Cloudy with a Chance of Sun, which dropped on April 26. Winnekta Bowling League is an alternative/indie band, and is signed to RCA Records.
Matthew found music success before being in his current band
Matthew co-wrote “Clarity,” by Zedd, featuring Foxes, which won a Grammy Award in 2014 for Best Dance Recording. He has also worked with Shania Twain, Tiesto, Ryan Tedder and more.
Matthew previously dated Carly Rae Jepsen before falling for Hilary
From 2012 to 2015, Matthew dated Carly Rae Jepsen after the two met while working on her album Kiss.
Matthew worked with Hilary on her new album
At the end of 2025, Hilary released her single “Mature,” which Matthew helped produce and write. He congratulated the Disney Channel alum for her reentrance into pop music in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“‘Mature’ is out today. It’s the first song ya’ll are hearing from an album my wife made over the last year and a half,” Matthew wrote alongside a photo of Hilary smiling with a heart cake while celebrating the single’s release. “Talk about an exercise in reclaiming what’s yours, giving yourself the license to step into a voice your younger self didn’t get to have, and doing it completely, unapologetically on your terms.”
Adding that he hoped the world would give Hilary “all the flowers [she deserves],” Matthew added, “But I simultaneously don’t really give a f**k what anyone thinks because we got to make something YOU love, that you think is rad, and we got to do it together – the rest is a bonus. Congratulations to my sweet wife, you’re the f**king coolest.”
