Works will impact the M2, M20, M25, A2 and more

Christmas and New Year’s have wrapped up for another year, which means that roadworks will resume on many of Kent’s busiest motorways and A-roads this week.

Monday, January 5 marks the start of the first full working week of 2026 for many of us, so our county’s travel infrastructure is going to get a lot busier.

Alongside the usual rush hour traffic, motorists will need to keep in mind a number of closures impacting the likes of the M2, M20, A2, A282, M25 and many other vital routes this week.

Closures will primarily be taking place between the hours of 8pm and 6am to minimise the impact of drivers, but those with early morning start or finishing times could then be affected.

Among these works is the resumption of maintenance at the Dartford Crossing, with the west tunnel to see closures each night this week.

Additionally, National Highways has confirmed details on a number of A282 closures for drivers to be aware of over the coming nights, the full details on which, including times and locations, can be found below.

Elsewhere, the M20 London-bound will see overnight closures between J9, for Drovers Interchange near Ashford, and J8, for Hollingbourne, on Monday and Tuesday night. These closures will be in place from 8pm to 6am on both nights as maintenance works are completed.

KentLive has rounded up all the works impacting travel on the county’s vital motorways and A-roads this week. You can find more details of roadworks on the One.Network site.
