Poundmania, based in Cumbernauld Shopping Centre, will shut permanently at the end of January.
The shop announced the news in a social media post, thanking customers for their support and launching a closing-down sale offering up to 50% off selected items.
In an emotional post, they said: “As we prepare to close our shop at the end of January, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to all our amazing customers for your support over the years.
“To show our appreciation, we’re having a Closing Down Sale with up to 50% OFF selected items.
“Please note: not everything is discounted, and stock is limited.
“Come and grab a bargain and say goodbye before we close our doors.”
A local community group also confirmed the closure, noting that Poundmania is the latest business to leave the centre.
The group paid tribute to the store, writing: “As The Carrick Stone Wetherspoons prepares to permanently close today, another town centre unit will soon be vacant with the closure of Poundmania, next to Argos.
“The business has confirmed they will be closing permanently at the end of January and have started a closing down sale.
“Other businesses in that section of The Centre Cumbernauld are expected to close or relocate in the coming months.”
In the meantime, Poundmania is encouraging shoppers to visit before the end of the month to take advantage of closing sale offers.
