The Wolf supermoon has been seen rising across the county this evening.
Matt Horne captured January’s first full moon above Dover Castle at 4.30pm.
It is often known as the Wolf Moon in the Northern Hemisphere because it marks the time of year when it was believed wolves howled more, as there was less food around.
Today’s one is a supermoon, which occurs when a full moon is near its closest point to the Earth in its orbit, meaning it appears up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter compared to when it is furthest away.
Elsewhere in the county, Maddison-Anne Lovett snapped a picture of the moon from Minster Shingle Bank in Sheppey at 5pm.
Another was taken by Millie Dunton after she noticed how “bright” it was over Sheppey as the moon glowed orange just after 4pm.
Shelley Barron managed to spot it from her house as the sun set and the sky became a dark blue.
