Sixes, a cricket-themed entertainment chain, entered administration after a period of “challenging” trading.

The company, which operates 16 venues across England including a site in Hove, has closed its Southampton branch with immediate effect.

However, administrators have confirmed that all other locations will continue to trade while a rescue deal is explored.

Sussex County Cricket Club, where the Hove venue is based, said their Sixes branch will continue to operate as normal.

A spokesperson for the club said: “Following the announcement that Sixes Cricket Limited has been placed into administration, we want to reassure our customers that Sixes at Sussex remains open for business.

“As a franchisee of Sixes, we can continue to operate as normal, with all existing and new bookings continuing to be honoured.”

The Hove branch opened in April at the Sussex County Cricket Club ground, making it the first Sixes location at a professional cricket venue.

There was previously a Sixes at the i360 in Brighton. This closed in November 2024.

The chain was founded in 2020 by Calum Mackinnon and Andy Waugh and has expanded rapidly amid growing demand for “competitive socialising” experiences.

It also operates an international venue in the West Indies.

In 2023, Sixes secured investment from 4Cast Investment Group, which includes professional cricketers Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Stuart Broad.

Administrators from FRP Advisory have been hired to oversee the process, and have since confirmed that they are in talks “with a number of interested parties about a sale”.

While the Southampton location was closed with immediate effect, all other sites are still operating as usual, with existing bookings being honoured.
