Isaac’s Lane, near Haywards Heath, was closed and people were told to avoid the area due to the incident at an industrial unit which began last night (December 17).
Six fire engines attended and firefighters remain on scene this morning damping down the site.
Isaac’s Lane has since reopened.
A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service sad: “We were called at 11.56pm on Wednesday, December 17 to reports of a fire involving an industrial unit off Isaac’s Lane near Haywards Heath.
“Joint fire control mobilised six fire engines to the scene.
“Firefighters worked through the night to extinguish the fire and remain on scene this morning damping down to ensure there are no further signs of fire.
“Isaac’s Lane was closed in both directions to allow firefighters to work safely, but has since reopened.”
