Police and the fire service attended the incident off Cliftonville Road
A man who was reportedly armed with a knife in North Belfast has been arrested this evening.
Police received reports that a man armed with a knife was seen in the Cliftonville Road area on Tuesday, December 16, with officers attending the just after 3.20pm alongside the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
Following the incident a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences which include possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, assault on police, and possession of a Class A controlled drug.

He remains in police custody at this time.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police in north Belfast have made an arrest after attending a report of a man armed with a knife in the Cliftonville Road area earlier this afternoon, Tuesday 16th December.
“Officers attended the scene together with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service shortly after 3.20pm.
“One man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, assault on police, and possession of a Class A controlled drug, and remains in police custody at this time.”
