Two fire engines along with fire crews were despatched to the scene.
Equipment was also used by fire crews to remove one person from their vehicle, who was then taken away by ambulance helicopter.
Currently road closures remain in place eastbound between the B255 near Bean (Bluewater) and the A227 near Gravesend as investigations and clean-up operations are underway.
National Highways confirmed that Kent Police are at the scene carrying out investigations with a clean-up operation to follow.
In a statement, National Highways advised drivers that traffic and closures are expected until around 4pm today whilst emergency services are at the scene.
In a statement a spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue services said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a crash involving two vehicles on the A2 coastbound in Bean.
“Two fire engines attended, and firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to release one person from a vehicle.
“One person was passed into the care of HEMS.”
