We are so lucky to have this fantastic restaurant in East Street, Brighton.
This Christmas they have a festive set or a sharing party menu. The festive set menu is made up of three courses costing £45 per person.
We went for the sharing party menu, which is like a work of art. It is a feast for the eyes and the stomach.
The sharing platter at Terre a Terre
It includes a tapas spread featuring a pick from some of the restaurant’s well-loved items. So if you don’t make it to Terre à Terre at Christmas, I highly recommend their sharing meals any time.
The soft buttermilk-soaked halloumi dipped in chip shop batter is a treat, alongside butterbean brandade and smoked tomato harissa with nice crispbreads.
Then there’s the Onigiri sushi rice seasoned with black sesame salt. Accompanied by tamari-pickledshiitake, edamame yuzu pesto, shichimi togarashi crispy onion and pickled ginger.
All of these were sensational.
We loved the Makki ki puri – a hot and crispy coconut maize chaat-spiced fritter served on Bengal butter-baked aubergine and hot mango-lime chutney. Topped with coconut yogurt and crunchy chilli-flaked coconut almond clusters.
Also a winner was the soba noodles tossed with crisp kohlrabi threads and fresh Chinese leaf; coated in miso sesame and ginger dressing. It comes topped with wasabi-roasted cashews, puffed rice wakame cracker shards, spring onion and edamame and dusted with hibiscus, amchur and toasted nori.
The festive set has three options per course, starters include the Korean rice cake crispy sticks and a cauliflower cheese soup called Sleigh Soup and Turnover.
The mains include the restaurant’s twist on Himmel Und Erde, a torta lenticchia cake topped with pippin cider butter baste and slow-cooked Stamppot choux and root.
Snowflake soufflé is another main option which is a ricotta soufflé pillow topped with winter savoury sunflower seed pesto and crumbly Sussex Charmer cheese.
Figgy Puddin’ is included on the menu for dessert, and there isa chocolate Marsala and hazelnut trifle dubbed the Cocoa Coup.
Those who prefer light and fruity desserts can go for the hot shot, combining a double espresso with salted caramel ice cream and a shot of walnut liqueur.
Terre à Terre also pays tribute to Sussex by including the county in the drinks choices too.
From organic, biodynamic and Sussex-made wines, a curated wine selection, cocktails, and mocktails, diners have plenty to pick from.
