    Man arrested outside Churchill Square in Brighton city centre

    Police responded to a report of a disturbance outside Churchill Square shopping centre in Brighton at around 3pm today, December 13.

    An eye witness said members of the public, including a person in a Santa outfit, attempted to assist officers.

    A man was arrested on suspicion of assault, assault of an emergency worker, threatening or abusive behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress and drunk and disorderly behaviour.

    He remains in custody at this time.

    A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information such as CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward.

    “Information can be reported to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 847 of 13/12.”
