A busy motorway has been closed for much of the day due to emergency repairs, leaving drivers facing miles of diversions.
The M26 has been shut off eastbound between junction 5 M25 and junction 3 M20.

National Highways contractors are currently at the scene carrying out emergency road surface repairs on the route, which closed at around 10am, with traffic officers providing support.
Drivers are warned to allow extra time for their journey if travelling in the area, with traffic building along the M25 anticlockwise.
Motorists are advised to follow a 13-mile diversion heading along the M25 anticlockwise to junction 3 before exiting and heading eastbound on the M20 towards Dover before leaving at junction 2.
It’s currently unknown when the route will reopen.
Further delays have also been reported with the M25 anticlockwise partially blocked at junction 1a for the Dartford Tunnel due to a broken-down vehicle.
