A public safety notice has been issued after the containers came to the shore at Selsey beach in West Sussex.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service urged people to avoid the area as emergency crews worked to make the site safe.
It said: “Following an incident yesterday, two large shipping containers have washed up on Selsey beach.
“We are currently cordoning off the area.
“Do not approach the containers they may be hazardous.”

Eleven contained bananas, one had avocados, one had plantain, and the other five were empty.
The Baltic Klipper, which flies under the flag of Liberia, is currently at anchor of the coast of the Isle of Wight.
It has not yet been confirmed these are the same containers.
