Overnight closures are planned for some of the county’s busiest roads

National Highways has announced the details on all of the roadworks impacting travel on Kent’s busiest A-roads and motorways this week. Between Monday, December 8 and Sunday, December 14, overnight closures will be held on various key routes, including the M20, M2 A2, A20 and M26.

On the nights of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week, the A2 eastbound will shut between Dartford Heath and Darenth Interchange from 10pm to 5.30am on all three nights. This is to allow carriageway repairs to be completed.

Then on Thursday night, the M20 coastbound will shut between J9, for Ashford, and J10 at Lancton Interchange, from 8pm to 5am for surface works. Closures at the Dartford Crossing continue this week as well, with the west tunnel to shut each week night while maintenance works are completed.

A full closure of the QEII Bridge is scheduled to take place on the night of Saturday, December 13 from 10pm to 5am on Sunday morning. During this time, southbound M25/A282 traffic will be diverted via the east tunnel.

Vehicles less than 4.8m (15‘-9”) high travelling northbound will be able to use the west tunnel as usual and for vehicles between 4.8m (15‘-9”) and 5.0m (16’-6”) high, an alternative diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise. The east tunnel will then close on Sunday night into Monday morning for further maintenance.
