Seam bowler Matt Quinn – who has played four Kent first-team matches since October 2023

Injury-ravaged seam bowler Matt Quinn has penned a new two-year Kent contract.

Quinn has committed his future to the county until the 2027 season despite bowling just 60 overs in County Championship Division 2 in the 2025 summer as he has suffered with hamstring, lower-limb and back injuries in recent years.

Overall, the 32-year-old has played five Kent first-team fixtures in all competitions since September 2023. The New Zealand-born former Essex player also missed the entire 2024 campaign.

Quinn joined ahead of the 2021 season and has taken 103 wickets in 58 appearances for Kent, with best figures of 6-23 against Hampshire in the County Championship in 2022.

He has also been a part of the Kent Spitfires sides that won the 2021 T20 Vitality Blast and the One-Day Cup the following year.

As well as committing to the county, Quinn will take on a bowling mentorship role this winter, working with the club’s Talent Pathway to help nurture young bowling talent at the club.

Quinn said: “Kent is now my home and it was an easy decision for me to remain a part of the exciting project under (head coach) Adam Hollioake and (director of cricket) Simon Cook.

“This year has been a tough one for me personally with niggling injuries, just as I was getting into a rhythm with my bowling, but I’m determined to work hard this winter to be as ready as I can be for 2026.

“Everyone in the dressing room is eager to push on in all formats and I hope to contribute towards wins throughout next summer and beyond.”

Director of cricket Cook added: “We’re very pleased that Quinny has committed to the club for at least a further two years.

“As one of our experienced bowlers despite only being 32, it’s fantastic that he has bought into helping bring in young home-grown bowling talent from our Talent Pathway with so much enthusiasm.

“As well as helping us produce more talent down the line, he remains a big part of our bowling core as we head into the 2026 season.”

Fellow bowler Michael Cohen, captain Daniel Bell-Drummond, Spitfires skipper Sam Billings, fellow wicketkeeper Harry Finch, Dutch international left-arm fast bowler Fred Klaassen and England international Zak Crawley remain out of contract at Kent.
