Emergency services were called to reports of a man suffering serious injuries at an address in Lindum Road, Worthing, on September 3.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 25-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sussex Police said a 22-year-old man has now been arrested in Curzon Close, Worthing, on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at this time.
Officers were seen earlier this afternoon in an allotment in Canterbury Road, Tarring, Worthing. Police confirmed the activity was in relation to the murder investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore, who is leading the investigation, said: “My condolences remain with the family during this incredibly difficult time.
“We will continue to offer support from specialist officers throughout this investigation.
“We are not seeking anyone else in connection to the incident at this time.
“As this is a live investigation, I’d like to advise the public against speculation online to protect this case from prejudice.”
Armed police were stationed in the street following the incident on Wednesday afternoon. A forensics tent was put up and officers could be seen working in the area the next day.
