Hannah and Mairi Duncan, 18, who attended Roedean, have learned they will be following in their parents’ footsteps after securing the A-level results needed to study medicine.
Hannah achieved A*s in biology and Latin and and As in Chemistry and History while Mairi also achieved A*s in biology and History and As in Chemistry and Philosophy.
As a result, the twins from Bolney have secured university places at Oxford and Sheffield.
The identical twins will both study medicine. Both admit they were reluctant to go into medicine when they were younger after their parents warned them it was not an easy career.
Mairi said: “We did not want to be nepo babies but as we got older we both realised that we couldn’t really imagine doing anything else.
“Mum and dad are anaesthetists and we definitely know we don’t want to do that.
Hannah and Mairi will go to separate universities.“I am interested in the eyes and heart while Hannah thinks she might want to
However, Hannah and Mairi say they made the decision to try and go to separate universities.
Hannah said : “We’ve got the same friends and we have been at the same school all these years and now we are studying the same subject – so we thought we better at least go to separate cities!”
