Charlie WebsterCharlie Webster, owner of Websters Estate Agents in Norwich, has won gold in men’s golf at the British Transplant Games and now aims to claim the world title.

He battled a rare and progressive liver condition known as Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) for over 18 years before receiving a transplant in 2022. His recovery has been exceptional and he now competes at an elite level.

Webster said: “It still feels surreal. To go from years of illness and uncertainty to standing on top of the podium – this medal isn’t just for me, it’s for my donor and their family. Their gift gave me my life back.”

The British Transplant Games is held annually to celebrate the gift of life and raise awareness for organ donation. Hundreds of transplant recipients from across the country gather and this year’s event saw record participation as well as sharing and poignant stories of resilience and triumph.

Next week, Webster heads to Dresden to represent Team Great Britain at the World Transplant Games, competing against transplant athletes from over 60 countries.

“It’s an honour to wear the GB colours. I’m playing for everyone still waiting for a transplant and to show what’s possible when you get a second chance. To be able to compete on the World stage is a testament to my doctors, coaches and my family who have all helped me recover from such a long illness. I’m ready to make up lost time and excited to compete next week in Germany.”
