Promising young Gillingham forward Damien Theodore has returned to his old club Burgess Hill Town on loan.
He’s the latest young Gills player to head out on loan after keeper Taite Holtam joined Ashford United, defender Logan Dobbs signed for Welling United and right-back Harry Webster went to Ramsgate for some first-team action.
Theodore joined the Gills in February from Burgess Hill and impressed first-team boss Gareth Ainsworth during pre-season.
He played with the senior team in games against Dover, Reading and Southampton.
Burgess Hill won promotion last season after beating Sittingbourne in the Isthmian South East play-off final. They start their new season away to Potters Bar this Saturday.
Gills’ young defender Dobbs had a loan spell at Burgess Hill last season and was part of their promotion-winning side.
He’s signed for Welling at the start of this season and their campaign stats on Saturday away at Cheshunt.
Webster started for Ramsgate against Hastings United last Saturday in a 5-0 friendly win. They begin their Isthmian Premier season at home to Whitehawk this Saturday.
Rams’ assistant boss Darren Beale said: “He’s our sort of full-back. He likes to get on, links up well with the players in front of him, but he’s also a great defender as well. [We’re] really pleased with that addition.”
Holtam played in goal for Ashford on Saturday in their 1-0 FA Cup extra preliminary round win at Haywards Heath. Their first league game this Saturday is against Sheppey United.
