Gillingham manager Gareth Ainsworth felt there was no reason to change the captain this season.
Armani Little was handed the captain’s armband on Saturday by Ainsworth, and the midfielder came up with a set-piece kick that rescued the Gills a point from their trip to Accrington.

It was former boss John Coleman who first handed Little the captaincy, the former AFC Wimbledon man stepping up to replace Max Ehmer.
Ehmer’s last game for the Gills came at Accrington last season, in a 1-1 draw. Little had been made skipper a month earlier.
Ainsworth could have made a change but felt Little was worthy of keeping the armband.
The Gills boss said: “There was no reason not to pick the boy from last year because he’s proven.
“I look for all the leadership traits and we’re trying to work hard on some of the players in that area.
“I’ve got Conor Masterson, Bradley Dack and Glenn Morris, all leaders. They’re talkers and leaders. We’re trying to develop all these.
“But Armani definitely leads the lads with example on the pitch, a bit of a voice, and he does everything right.
“I’m pleased he got the goal. He got the armband. He’s was a proud man, taking the team to Accrington and getting a point.”
Gillingham’s goal on 79 minutes was credited to Accrington defender Devon Matthews, getting a touch as Little’s corner kick was curled in towards goal.
“I don’t know how it went in, but he’s certainly claiming it,” the Gills boss added.
