Whether you want to adopt a dog, cat, rabbit or guinea pig, there is plenty of choice at the Sussex North & Brighton, Brighton & The Heart of Sussex and Sussex East & Hastings branches of the RSPCA.

Some of the animals from the branches are listed below, but more can be found on the centre’s websites.

To help the Sussex RSPCA branches carry on their work, you can donate to them on the website here.

Things to Consider Before Adopting a Pet

Violet

Violet (Image: RSPCA) Gender – Female

Age – Two years old

Breed – Doberman crossbreed

Colour – Fawn

If you want to adopt Violet, you can view their full profile here.

Violet came to the centre due to her previous owner’s circumstances changing.

She is people-friendly and will jump up to say hello enthusiastically, but is learning to keep all four feet on the floor.

She will need a family who will be confident in walking her, as she can be strong on the lead and has previously lived with children and other dogs, but it would have to be the right match.

Violet also had an old injury on her back leg, so her new home will need to be willing to take on the commitment of her physio treatment and understand that she may one day be a three-legged dog.

Jan

Jan (Image: RSPCA) Gender – Female

Age – One year old

Breed – Domestic Shorthair crossbreed

Colour – Tabby and white

If you want to adopt Jan, you can view their full profile here.

Jan arrived with two kittens, but now her babies have been rehomed, so she is looking for a home of her own.

So far, she has been quite shy but is starting to enjoy some head strokes and attention.

The RSPCA says that after being given time, she will start to relax and trust her human companions more.

In her next home, Jan will need a garden she can access and potter around in and would like to be the only animal in the home.

Cleo-Catra

Age – One year old

Breed – Domestic Shorthair crossbreed

Colour – Black and white

If you want to adopt Cleo-Catra, you can view their full profile here.

Cleo-Catra has been through a lot of trauma, being severely injured after being attacked with a knife.

Following this, she had to have her front left leg amputated, but despite this, she is sweet and adores a fuss and loves to play.

She can be a bit timid to start with, but it hasn’t taken her long to show he cheeky yet sweet side

Cleo-Catra will need a fully secure garden and could live in a normal home with a garden, but it would need to be a very quiet area.

Will and Amanda

Will and Amanda (Image: RSPCA) Gender – Male and female

Age – Three to six months

Breed – Domestic Shorthair crossbreed

Colour – Black and white

If you want to adopt Will and Amanda, you can view their full profile here.

Will and Amanda were brought in by an RSPCA inspector from an unsuitable home and didn’t have the best start in life, so are learning to trust humans again.

Will is the boldest and loves fuss, strokes, treats and attention and while having nervous moments, seems to be ready to take on most situations.

Amanda is his quiet sidekick – she isn’t fearful, but just isn’t quite sure about humans, but is curious and will approach without hesitation.

The pair are bonded and are looking for a calm home together with a garden together but may be okay living with older children aged 13 and older.

Will has opacity in both of his eyes, but this doesn’t affect his daily life and post-adoption, the branch is open to supporting any future medication or treatment relating to Will’s previous eye injuries.
