In reply, Gus Freeman (37) led the way for the hosts but Vaibhav Vaidyanath and former Kent man Alex Blake, returning 3-24 and 3-40, respectively, left Tunbridge Wells’ run-chase short.

Third-placed Sandwich Town edged a rain-disrupted match at Minster by eight runs.

The multi-talented Tom Chapman (48) top scored in Sandwich’s 193 all out in the 45th over as David Masters (2-20), Harrison Masters (2-24), James Speer (2-34) and Bill Prideaux (2-42) claimed scalps.

Set a revised target of 183 from 44 overs, Rory Smith’s 3-36 did the damage despite Jaahid Ali’s well-made 78.

St Lawrence & Highland Court slipped into one of the relegation places after they were inched out by four wickets at home by Bexley.

Leo Carter’s unbeaten 176 from 146 balls inspired Holmesdale’s 273 all out despite New Zealand overseas professional Angus McKenzie (3-58) impressing.

Nathan Khelawon (3-63) took wickets, only for George Wells’ 93 to help Blackheath home with seven balls to spare.

Bromley were three-wicket home winners over Lordswood.

Opener Linden Lockhart’s 67 led Lordswood’s 162 all out as Oliver Butterfill (4-21) turned the screw.

But Bromley opener Stan Greenleaf (51) followed suit, supported by Ollie Streets’ 38, to leave wickets for Australian overseas professional Will Straker (3-53) in vain.
