The webinar will be held exclusively for guild members on Tuesday, 29th July at 11am.
As a component of the forthcoming Renters’ Rights Bill, the government is proposing that the ‘Decent Homes Standard’, which currently applies only to the social housing sector, be extended to all private rental properties.
This will place a legal responsibility on landlords and their managing agents to ensure every rental property meets a new, defined standard of quality and safety.
To ensure its network is fully prepared, the guild’s compliance officer, Paul Offley, will host the webinar. Offley will be joined by co-host Tanya Pearson, a senior account manager at the guild with vast experience in the lettings sector.
The webinar will cover:
- Detailed analysis of the proposed changes and what the Decent Homes Standard entails.
- A summary of the practical implications for guild members, their landlords, and their day-to-day operations.
- Guidance on completing the official government consultation, including a direct link and advice on how to contribute effectively before the 10th September deadline.
“The Renters’ Rights Bill is poised to be the most significant piece of legislation to affect the lettings sector in a generation,” said Offley. “The introduction of a Decent Homes Standard to the PRS is a core component of this, and it is vital that agents are prepared for the practical implications.
“Our goal with this webinar is not just to inform our members, but to empower them to guide their landlords effectively and to contribute their professional expertise to the consultation.”
