SGN will be working on upgrading its gas network in Coleman Avenue, Hove from July 21 for a duration of 16 weeks.
There will be signed diversion routes will be in place for motorists across the area.
The gas company has said that the road closure is needed due to the location of its pipe in the road and the type of “engineering works required to carry out our upgrade project”.
A spokeswoman said: “It will be a rolling road closure which will move along the road as our work progresses to reduce disruption as much as possible.”

Simon Collins, a spokesman for SGN, said: “We’re currently working to upgrade the gas network in the Worcester Villas area of Hove to ensure that local homes and businesses continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
“To keep the public and our colleagues safe while we work, A road closure is in place along Worcester Villas at its junction with Portland Road.”
To maintain vehicle access to the road while the gas company conducts its work, it has reversed the one-way order at its junction with New Church Road.
The works are expected to last until July 25.
Mr Collins added: “We’re sorry for any disruption this essential work has caused and would like to thank the local community for its patience and support.”
