Gillingham’s leading goalscorer from last season Jayden Clarke has joined National League side Forest Green Rovers.
The 24-year-old netted seven goals for the Gills during a disappointing 2024/25 campaign for the club. The winger found himself a free agent after being released at the end of his contract.

Clarke moved to the Gills from Dulwich Hamlet in January 2023 and went onto make 68 league appearances – 38 of those coming off the bench.
He was initially signed as ‘one for the future’ and made just three appearances during the second half of the 2022/23 season before establishing himself as a regular in the first team in 23/24.
Clarke made 40 appearances during that first full season with the Gills but only netted twice, both in cup competitions.
Last season was a standout one for the player, but not good enough to earn himself a new deal under manager Gareth Ainsworth, who was keen to free up space in the squad to try and bring a few of his own players in.
Clarke was one of those who was let go.
He’s joined a team now managed by Robbie Savage, who moved to Forest Green at the start of July after success at former club Macclesfield.
Savage said: “Jayden is exactly the profile we really want.
“He is exciting and dynamic – with dynamism being something I want to instil in my team. Jayden will certainly enhance our squad.”
