The mobility scooter rider was spotted on the A27 and it was reported that he “drove half a mile down the Polegate Bypass” before being “pulled over by police”.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “On Friday, 27 June, around 11.40am, police were alerted by members of the public to concerns for a man travelling on a mobility scooter along the A27 near the Cophall Roundabout in Polegate.
“Officers attended the scene and located the man, ensuring his safety and providing appropriate assistance.
“Officers would like to thank the public for reporting the incident.”
