Scottish Water announced it is carrying out an emergency sewer repair at the junction of Bore Road, Kirkness Street, and Waverley Drive in Airdrie.
The utility company noted that this is proving to be an ‘extensive and complex’ job given the ‘extreme’ depth – of up to nine metres – of the pipe and its poor condition.
The project has also experienced delays due to unrelated emergency gas repair works being carried out nearby by SGN.
Engineers are currently on site on the grassy area on the corner of Kirkness Street and Bore Road.
Kirkness Street remains shut to traffic while Bore Road has been reduced to a single lane under temporary lights.
The repair work and full reinstatement are expected to be completed in ‘late July’.
Scottish Water commented that it is working as quickly as safety and conditions will allow.
