Matthew Ben Johnson, 35, of Longstone Road, Eastbourne, was committed to prison for seven days after admitting to breaching supervision requirements imposed following a period of imprisonment by failing to maintain contact with probation officers since January 29, 2025, and missing an appointment on January 30 2025.
Darryl Lee Colin Souster, 58, of Phase One, Oriental Place, Brighton, admitted breaching his supervision requirements imposed following a period of imprisonment by failing to attend appointments on March 25, April 3, and April 15, 2025. A supervision default order was made requiring him to remain under a 30-day curfew with electronic monitoring from 8pm each day until 8am the following morning at his address in Brighton.
Bianca Conway, 50, of St Aubyns, Hove, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a red light traffic signal while driving a Mini on August 2, 2024 at Old Shoreham Road, Brighton, at the junction with Carlton Terrace. She was fined £100, ordered to pay £90 in costs and a £40 surcharge to fund victim services.
Sofiane Tafat, 46, of Powis Road, Brighton, pleaded guilty to keeping an uninsured Mercedes motor vehicle on February 7, 2023 at St Catherine’s Terrace, Hove. He was fined £84 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge.
Lewis Hiles, 25, of Coombe Road, Brighton, admitted breaching his community order by failing to attend office appointments on October 10, October 24, and November 28, 2024. The court varied his original order to extend its end date to April 3, 2026 and require him to complete an additional 13.5 hours of unpaid work.
Bradley Barnes-Hutchison, 36, of no fixed abode, admitted breaching a community order by failing to attend unpaid work appointments on January 21 and January 28, 2025. His community order was varied to require 25 additional hours of unpaid work to be carried out. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.
Daryl Winstanley, 37, of George Williams Mews, Portslade, was fined £100 after he admitted breaching a community order by missing appointments on March 11, March 31, and April 7, 2025, and failing to maintain contact with probation officers since March 25, 2025.
Brendan Nathan Kent, 43, of Elm Grove, Brighton, admitted breaching a suspended sentence order by failing to comply during an office appointment on May 1, 2025, and failing to attend an office appointment on May 7, 2025. The court varied his 12-week suspended sentence, extending its operational period to 24 months. The suspended sentence was originally imposed after he assaulted a woman by beating her on North Street in Brighton on August 21, 2024. The court ruled that imprisonment for the breach was not appropriate, because the defendant now has stable accommodation, giving him a real chance of being able to comply with the requirements and start to turn things around.
Oliver Fernandez Jose, 20, of Jarvis Lane, Steyning, must pay £84.80 in a fine and compensation for boarding a train at Brighton without a valid ticket on September 6, 2024.
Jamie Middleton, 37, of Felpham Road, Bognor Regis, admitted breaching a suspended sentence order by failing to attend unpaid work appointments on April 26 and May 3, 2025. His suspended sentence order was varied, becoming a prison sentence of 24 months suspended for 24 months, with an additional five days of rehabilitation activity added to the order. He must also pay £85 in costs. The suspended sentence order was originally imposed for two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. The court ruled that imprisonment was not appropriate for the breach, as the defendant’s father had recently died.
