Superdrug has relocated to a “larger location” at a shopping centre after moving into a former Wilko unit.
The health and beauty retailer opened at Westwood Cross in Broadstairs today (May 16).
The brand, which has employed three permanent employees in the 6,566 ft store, says it is offering customers its usual stock of toiletries, beauty treatments and luxury fragrances.
Its property director, Clare Jennings, said: “This larger location marks an important step in growing Superdrug’s footprint in the area and gives us the chance to offer an even wider range of products and services to our customers.
“We’re proud to bring a modern shopping experience that features leading health and beauty brands, a premium fragrance section, and our in-store Beauty Studio.”
The store also includes an expanded beauty offering featuring Superdrug’s own-brand cosmetics range, Studio London, where shoppers can purchase the likes of brows, nails and piercing products.
The company, which unveiled its first Superdrug shop in Putney in April 1966, says its newest shop will be open seven days a week, including from 9am to 7.30pm on weekdays.
It will trade from 9am to 6.30pm on Saturdays and from 10am until 4pm on Sundays.
Westwood Cross centre director, Fran Donovan, added: “We’re thrilled to unveil the new and improved Superdrug here at Westwood Cross.
“As a shopping destination, our goal is to ensure guests enjoy the very best our brands have to offer and we’re confident they’ll love exploring the expanded ranges and enhanced in-store services available in Superdrug’s upgraded space.
“This new development is a sign of what’s to come at Westwood Cross, and we’re looking forward to unveiling more exciting news over the coming months.”
It is the first time the large unit has been filled following the departure of Wilko in September 2023.
It follows the announcement Skechers will fill Superdrug’s now-former home at the shopping centre.
A revamp of the store will be carried out now that Superdrug store has shut, before the shoe company is expected to move into its new premises later this year.
It will be the American footwear company’s fifth store in Kent, with shops in Bluewater Shopping Centre, Maidstone, Ashford and Canterbury all currently open.
