Kent County Council has submitted a planning application to install new electric bus chargers at Acacia Hall car park, just south of Dartford town centre.
The plans include the installation of three 450kW electric bus chargers, along with supporting equipment such as a low-voltage feeder pillar.
The development also proposes creating new entrance and exit routes for both buses and pedestrians.
As part of the project, a public right of way that currently crosses the Fastrack busway would be diverted.
Two existing uncontrolled pedestrian crossings over the busway would be removed or relocated, and a new triangular island-style bus stop is planned for the site.
The application also includes the addition of three new lighting columns and various landscaping works.
The proposed development sits on the edge of the Dartford Town Centre Conservation Area and near several listed buildings.
According to the notice issued by the council, the works could affect the appearance or character of the conservation area and the setting of the nearby historic buildings.
The diversion of the public footpath may also impact how pedestrians use the area.
Residents and other interested parties are invited to comment on the proposal.
The application can be viewed on Kent County Council’s website at www.kent.gov.uk/viewapplications under application number KCC/DA/0047/2025.
Comments can be submitted online, by email to planning.applications@kent.gov.uk, or by post to the Planning Applications Group at County Hall in Maidstone.
The deadline for feedback is May 23, 2025.
