Yesterday (May 1), voters in Dartford went to the polls to select their next county councillor.
Following today’s (May 2) count, Michael David Brown emerged victorious, unseating Jeremy Kite, the leader of Dartford Borough Council and the now-former Conservative representative for Dartford Rural.
The total turnout for Dartford Rural was 4,510 votes, with Brown securing 2,086 of them.
The verification process began at 10am, and counting commenced around 11.30am at Dartford Civic Centre. Polling stations were open from 7am until 10pm on May 1.
As a result of this outcome, the Conservatives have lost their hold on Dartford Rural, with Reform UK now taking over representation for the division.
